Payment Boundary
This policy makes the payment boundary clear: your organization can record outside payments in a private ledger and/or accept them online on its own connected account — and either way, Golbi never takes custody of your members' money.
Last updated June 28, 2026. This policy explains where Golbi's role in members' payments begins and ends. Whether your organization records payments made elsewhere or accepts them online through Golbi, the boundary is the same: Golbi never takes custody of your members' money. (Golbi's own paid-plan subscriptions are covered separately by the Subscription Billing Terms.)
Golbi never holds member funds
For member dues, registrations, store orders, and event tickets, Golbi does not hold, move, or settle your members' money. An organization can use either or both of the ways below — they are not mutually exclusive:
- Recording outside payments (ledger). Golbi keeps a private, admin-only ledger of who owes what, what has been paid, payment notes, and balances. When members pay by Venmo, check, cash, bank transfer, or another account you choose, you record the outcome here. Golbi does not process those payments.
- Online checkout through Golbi. When your organization connects a payment account, members can also pay online. These are direct charges to your organization's own connected payment account — your organization is the merchant of record, and the funds settle directly to it. Golbi never receives or holds those funds.
You can run ledger-only, online-checkout-only, or both at once — for example, accept online payments while still recording the occasional cash or check in the ledger.
You are the merchant of record for online payments
Online payments run on your organization's own connected account, provided through our payment processor, Stripe. Your organization is the merchant of record for those sales.
- The funds go directly to your connected account; Golbi does not take custody of them.
- Card, bank, and wallet details are handled by the payment processor — Golbi does not store those credentials.
- A small service fee may apply to online payments; it is disclosed before checkout.
- Where sales tax applies to taxable goods, it is calculated and collected at checkout.
Refunds and disputes
Because the funds belong to your organization, refunds, chargebacks, and payment disputes are handled by your organization through the account that collected the money — your connected account for online payments, or your own external account for outside payments. Golbi updates the ledger to reflect any adjustment.
Organizations set their own payment terms
Each organization is responsible for its own amounts, deadlines, refund rules, and payment terms with its members. Golbi does not set or enforce those terms.
What this policy does not cover
Online donations and payout/disbursement features are not enabled at this time. Golbi's own paid-plan subscriptions are covered by the Subscription Billing Terms.
